July 12, 2003 (Saturday)— Lecco

In the morning, we had our audition/evaulation in the theatre, which had very unforgiving acoustics. After a combined rehearsal (and another invitation to Poland!), the boys went to their billets' houses, and the adults went to be received by the mayor of Lecco. The adults also went to lunch with the adults of the other choirs, where Mr Kula spoke with one of the Polish choirs in German since they didn't speak English or Italian. In the evening, we drove up into the mountains for an evening service in a small church, which was packed to hear the boys. It was quite hot (no surpise there). The church provided dinner and foosball, then we went back to Lecco (15 min) to line up for the parade to the town square, where the folk concert took place. We were last, and sang three spirituals, but then the Boni Pueri came back on for another surprise piece in Italian.

at the audition, acoustics were not friendly

Well, you have to get vested somewhere

And you have to warm up somewhere.

Long-distance music-making.

The boys pass the time before the parade starts.

Danilo, our driver, before the parade .

Every choir had their own horse-drawn carriage.
