We got the morning off, as three other choirs went to their audition/evaluation. In the afternoon, we had a combined rehearsal in the Lecco Cathedral. At lunch, we met the Boni Pueri choir fromt he Czech Republic. They're the featured choir for the festival, and have invited us to Prague next year for a festival they are hosting. We stayed in the shade to avoid the 95+ degree heat. All the choirs got on their buses and headed to Bergamo, the medieval town on a hill, about an hour away. Claudia found us a place to put our things, so we had a break to go shopping and get gelato in Bergamo. There was also a film festival in town as well.
At the evening concert, the Boni Pueri sang the Faure Requiem with orchestra, and each choir sang one piece. Since we were last (they go alphabetically by country, so we're always last), we stayed up in front for the combined pieces at the end. Marcia was recruited to play organ for the combined pieces, finishing with the Halleluia Chorus, in English.
At lunch, we met the Boni Pueri choir, the Czech Boys Choir, who were the featured choir of the festival. |
