July 9, 2003 (Wednesday)— Florence to Lecco

We loaded the bus in the morning and went on our way north. Josh and Tim worked on movies, though we haven't been able to find Internet access for days. We managed to create a wireless computer network on the bus to transfer concert recordings from the recording computer to the movie computer. We made a couple of stops along the way, and arrived at Lecco early in the afternoon. The lake is beautiful, mountains everywhere. The boys were distributed to their billet families, where they settled in an had dinner before the evening festivities.
The choirs lined up in the town hall courtyard, and paraded through town to S. Nicolo cathedral, where the Boni Pueri boys choir from the Czech Republic gave a concert for the combined choirs. It's been quite warm and humid, but there is always gelato to cool off.

Bottled water abounds at lunch in Lecco.

Nick decided the warm weather in Italy required some shades.

The scenery as we walk to lunch.

Danilo, our driver.

This is our awesome bus.

Claudia on the right is our ACFEA courier, and Federica, on the left, is our festival guide.

The boys get their sign and flag for the parade.

The choirs line up at the town hall.

The parade goes down one of the narrow streets of Lecco.

The choirs arrive at the cathedral.
