June 29, 2003 (Sunday)—Eugene, Oregon

Each of the PICCFEST choirs was assigned to a different church to sing Sunday service. We went to Westminster Presbyterian, where they had a new pipe organ (Marcia was thrilled!) and a very appreciative congregation, who clapped after each song! The pastor mentioned how the boys were doing a tour of the great churches of the world, with Westminster Presbyterian, Eugene today, and San Marco in Venice next Sunday. We stumbled across a new uniform, which we now call "slipshots": blue polo and black pants with dress shoes.
After lunch there was some free time for the Gratitude Attitude wall or some basketball. After a nice one-hour rest period, the boys played volleyball against the Mississippi Girlchoir, which became a spectacle for the other choirs as well. During the rest period and volleyball, the Music Staff attended a workshop with Anton Armstrong, one of the foremost choral directors of this country who teaches at St. Olaf College (where ian sings), Mrs. Snow, and Robert Jager, who composed I Dream of Peace, the centerpiece of Monday's gala concert.
We recruited St. Louis at lunch and Mississippi at dinner to sufficienty embarrass Daniel on his birthday. Josh the Elder's grandparents helped arrange a cake. Tonight was the orchestra rehearsal, then ice cream!
