Boy soprano Jack Lunduist sang the solo for Cal's University Chorus performance of Chichester Psalms. Alternate David Kerns was prepared to sing at the drop of a hat!

APRIL 19, 2008

The Pacific Boychoir choir school choristers joined the boys and girls from the choir at St. Paul's Church Burlingame for evensong and a workshop for the San Francisco Chapter of the American Guild of Organists. Repertoire sung by the Pacific Boychoir and the St. Paul's Choristers included Geoffrey Burgon Evening Canticles, Joseph Corfe I will magnify thee, O Lord, and the Malcolm Archer Responses. This evening prayer service also included hymns crowned with soaring descants and festive organ voluntaries.

APRIL 11, 2008

Following up on the 2006 That Promised Land recording, the Pacific Boychoir presented a concert of American Spirituals in preparation for a second recording. The choir sang spirituals such as Elijah Rock, Steal Away, and De Gospel Train, with arrangements by Moses Hogan, Rollo Dilworth, Damon Dandridge, and others. The concert featured guest tenor Jonathon Hampton.

MARCH 21, 2008

Choristers from the PBA's choir school peformed Pergolesi's Stabat Mater, in its entirety, with boy soprano and alto soloists and string accompaniment, as part of St. Augustine's Stations of the Cross service on Good Friday, 2008.



MARCH 14-16. 21-23, 2008

Members of the PBA's Cantori and Trouvere groups joined the Livermore Valley Opera for their production of Bizet's Carmen at the new Bankhead Theatre.


MARCH 2 , 2008

The Boychoir's Troubadors, Continuum, and Changed Voices made an encore appearance to perform at First Church of Christ, Scientist in Berkeley. This church is a National Historic Landmark, designed by Bernard Maybeck and built in 1911. The Boychoir performed here in 2005 as part of the fundraising work to restore the landmark. Celebrate Leap Year Eve as the Boychoir sings the National Anthem for Cal Men's Basketball for the first time. The Bears take on Washington State at 8pm. The game will be televised on FSN (Fox Sports, Bay Area Comcast 40). For more info, visit the Cal Bears website.

The Harmonies of the Season concerts have become a highlight of the holiday season in the Bay Area. The Pacific Boychoir singers areinternationally renowned for rich and pure tone, bringing life and magic with them every time they sing. The Boychoir will perform Gustav Holst's Christmas Day for the first time, pieces featuring the boy soloists you've come to expect from the Pacific Boychoir, and Continuum, the Boychoir's polished, entertaining group of elite young tenors and basses.

PBA boys join the San Francisco Bach Choir for the first time, this year celebrating the first year with new director Corey Jamason. The concerts feature works from the late Renaissance and early baroque by Gallus, Praetorius, Schütz,
Sweelinck, Victoria and carols from across the ages, and includes the SFBC Period Ensemble

PBA boys sing Amahl and the Night Visitors for the first time. This production is produced by St. Augustine's Catholic Church as part of their ongoing centennial celebrations this year. The part of Amahl will be played by PBA soprano David Kerns. Understudy and also playing the part of the Page is PBA soprano Gavin Beretvas.

masses CD coverHot off the press, the new recording from the Pacific Boychoir! In addition to the B-Minor Mass, Bach wrote four other masses, from his time at the Thomasschule in Leipzig. The Pacific Boychoir has recorded two of these masses with boy sopranos and altos and an orchestra of Early Music specialists led by violinist sKati Kyme.

DECEMBER, 2007

The Pacific Boychoir's spirituals recording, That Promised Land, was awarded a Trebby Award for Full Choir Album—European Style (men and boys with boy altos, as opposed to the English style of using countertenors). The Trebby awards are online awards for recordings by boys choirs, and come from voters around the world. The Pacific Boychoir tied for the award with the Tolzer Knabenchor's recording of music by Franz Schubert. For the complete list of winners, visit the Trebby website.


SEPTEMBER 26-OCTOBER 2, 2007

The Boychoir was be on tour for four concerts to Illinois, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, and Ohio for the first time. The concerts featured works by Michael Haydn, Robert Schumann, Felix Mendelssohn, as well as American folk songs and spirituals.
