An
ensemble of boys traveled to Brasil for the Boychoir's second trip
to South America this summer. The Pacific Boychoir joined maestro
Kent Nagano, the Youth
Orchestra of the Americas, and the UC Berkeley Chamber Chorus
and Festival Camerata for three performances of Bach's St Mattthew

JULY
5-22, 2006
The
Boychoir's Troubadors and Continuum
headed to South America for the first time. The Boychoir performed
12 concerts in Brazil, including an appearance at the Campo Jordao
Winter Music Festival. On tour, the Boychoir sang two concerts with
The National Symphony Orchestra performing Mozart's Coronation Mass
to commemorate the 250th Anniversary of Mozart's birth.

JULY 4,
2006
"That
Promised Land," the Pacific Boychoir anticipated recording
of spirituals, rolled off the press at the end of June 2006. Director
Kevin Fox was honored by the Friends of Negro Spirituals for the
Boychoir's work in preserving this vital and unique American tradition.

JUNE
22-23, 2006
 The
PBA boys joined James Conlan, Principal Conductor of the Paris National
Opera, as he conducted the SF Symphony in Franz Liszt's Dante
Symphony. This was be the first time the PBA has performed this
piece. The PBA is joined by the SF Boys Chorus and Ragazzi
for the haunting SSAA boys' parts. |
JUNE

When the Pacific Boychoir goes on tour, the rest of the world gets
to hear what these amazing young Bay Area voices can do. The Boychoir's
tour program features classical music written for boys' voices, art
and folk songs, and American music. The Tour Send-off concert is your
opportunity to hear the Boychoir as the rest of the world does. This
concert is the last chance to hear the boys in America before voice
changes necessitate reshuffling the choir and the next year's choir

The
Pacific Boychoir sang for the Oakland
Museum's annual Mother's Day concert. The Boychoir sang in the
museum's theatre for the first time. The program included pieces by
Mozart, Mendelssohn, Faure, and many of the Boychoir's recently-recorded

Oakland's

Following
up on the success of the Boychoir's Cantate CD recording
of Bach's Cantata 150, the choir school Troubadors, period
instruments led by Kati Kyme, and Early Music specialist tenors
and basses performed two of Bach's Lutheran Masses (G Major and
g minor), a first for any American boys choir. Also on the program
was Bach's motet Jesu, Meine Freude.

Especially
when traveling overseas, the Boychoir has become known for heartfelt
and energetic interpretations of American spirituals. This concert
was a preview of the long-anticipated upcoming recording of a collection
from one of America's treasured genres. The Boychoir performed arrangements
by Andre Thomas, Jack Halloran, William Dawson, Moses Hogan, and
others.

FEBRUARY 2, 2006
The
Troubadors sang the National Anthem for Stanford
women's basketball for the first time, where the Cardinal handily
defeated the University of Oregon. The women's team has been picked
to win the Pac-10 in the preseason coaches' poll. SSAA arrangement

JANUARY
15 & 22, 2006
The
Moscow
Chamber Orchestra came to California, directed by San Francisco
native Constantine Orbelian, the first American to direct a major
Russian musical ensemble. The Boychoir sang Russian songs with the
orchestra and with celebrated Russian baritone Dmitri Hvorostovsky
for songs from Russia's war years. Dorothy Chandler Pavillion in
los Angeles and Davies Symphony Hall in San Francisco were sold
out with people to hear this unqiue program in with the Boychoir's
Troubadors and changed voices and an expanded men's choir.

DECEMBER
10, 11, 17, 2005
The
Boychoir presented three of its popular Harmonies of the Season
concerts in 2005. An ensemble sang Britten's A Ceremony of Carols
with harpist Karen Gottlieb, just released on CD. Audiences heard
Elgar's The Snow, Rutter's What Sweeter Music
and other seasonal favorites sung by the Troubadors and Changed
Voice ensembles. The Boychoir was joined by the Exeter
String Quartet for the second year.

DECEMBER 4, 2005
The
UC Davis Symphony Orchestra and University Chorus performed Britten's
St. Nicholas with PBA trebles as the Pickled Boys and the
gallery choir. This concert was performed at the noted Mondavi Center
in Davis. Also on the program was Bernstein's Chichester Psalms,
featuring PBA soloist Jacob Wilson. For more information on the

PBA boys joined David Robertson, Music Director of the St.
Louis Symphony, as he conducted the SF Symphony in Carl Orff's
ever-popular Carmina Burana. These four concerts sold out!

The
Boychoir's changed voice ensemble combined forces with the Women's
ensemble Sorelle
for Handel's Dixit Dominus for five-part choir. The groups
also sang pieces from their own repertoire. |

Lux
Aeterna: Requiem and Remembrance; Soloists Jacob Wilson and
Matte Cornell headed to Stanford for the premiere of Herve Kieffel's
Requiem, featuring the Chapel Choir, orchestra, and soloists. This
concert was produced by the Catholic Community at Stanford.

OCTOBER
29, 2005
The
Boychoir's Troubadors and Changed Voice ensemble joiedn the Marin
Children's Chorus for a benefit for hurricane relief. The choirs
sing sepaprately and together for the second time in as many years.

SEPTEMBER 23 and 25, 2005
Members
of the Troubador ensemble joined the Pacific Collegium to perform
music from the Eton Choirbook. These 15th-century pieces are masterpieces

SEPTEMBER 25, 2005
Members
of the Troubador and Changed Voice ensembles joined choristers from
across the country in a choral
celebration to honor the 20th Anniversary of Alan Jones as Dean
of Grace Cathedral.
The 11am eucharist and 3pm evensong featured the 60-voice men and
boys choir singing Anglican staples such as Parry's I Was Glad
and Walton's Coronation Te Deum, just part of an impressive
music list to commemorate the occasion.
